Description
NOTE: even if this game is in Closed Beta, I'm not looking for any beta testers at the moment.

"Joe Snow" is a remake based on a DOS game by Philip Hassey in 1991. He made a total of 4 versions of "Joe Snow," while the second version is more of a sequel of the first version.

Glacies World is Joe Snow's home planet where he and his people enjoy the freezing cold weather. Then, the cold weather turned into hot weather when a meteor shower rained in Glacies World! The reason is that there's not enough stars, the "Power Items," to repel the heat from the planet.
Joe Snow agreed to search for more Power Items that are located somewhere in the galaxy to prevent his home from melting!

In "Joe Snow," you control a snowball creature, Joe, to collect the collectables to give him the strength to withstand fire, lava, and acid, to achieve the legendary power items. The levels would progressively get difficult as you move on.

I have changed the world selection screen drastically.
Previously, you would control your rocket to move around space, stopping by the planets along the way. You would use the locating device to find a specified world that you would like to play. Because I guaranteed that that kind of selection will get very tedious, so I figured I would just allow you to select a planet manually instead of having to spend time moving from one world to another.

I know this shouldn't had taken me 3 months after my last update here, but the truth is that I lost the motive to work on the game after my previous job for developing a web site for a 4 month time. Currently, I'm slowly picking up the motivation for game development in general and resuming what I wanted to do in my life: creating games for you people to play!

Okay, I'm through with my last job, now time to get this game finished!

Here's my plan...
* revise the world selection screen
* get final world completed
* finish the cut scenes
* add any last minute additions
* release beta testing

Yeah.... I think it's time for an update.
To be blunt, I haven't been progressed to work on the remake mainly because my life sucks at the moment. I'm still at college and have another semi to complete, but currently, I have a temporary full time job that I need to pull though the end of April. In that case, my mind is set for the project at work than on the game, which completely sucks because I really wanted to get this done.
I'll tell you what, at May, which will start my summer break, I'll make Joe Snow my PRIORITY to get it completed.

Secondly, I'm getting second thoughts about adding "secret" worlds because I'm already struggling with level ideas. It's not a final decision, but I'm leading towards that approach.

Anyways, I would like to apologize for taking WAY too long with this remake.

Just to give you an idea to where I'm at, I'm making the final world of the normal worlds. After that, I might be adding secret worlds.
To make sure the final world is really final, I will be adding a boss to that world. In the meantime, I'll be trying to recite my math skills....

World 10 done, now working on world 11.
What? Are you suspecting something more? You can't get into conclusions...

I got the opening cinematic up and running. Now, I'll plan on a new world to create a next set of levels.

JohnsProgram - 24 / Feb / 2009 No comments
I'm already done techno world, so now, I'll be working on the opening scene to tell the story about the game. It's nothing too advanced, it'll contain pictures of the certain events that are happening.
Once done, I may just record the video and show you how the story goes.

I forgot to mention one more thing. I added a couple of new items to the game.
First, there are blocks that looks real, but it's actually a mirage. In other words, they are fake blocks. (If you see the screenshot of the Odyssey world, you'll noticed Joe Snow is inside the wall.)

Second, sparks are located at the techno world. If Joe Snow touches them, not only you would lose points, but it'll stun Joe Snow for a few seconds.

I'm back!
Just to let you guys know that I'm attending college during the time being, so I had to stop working on the game for a while.

Since I managed to make some spare time, I begun working on the game again, and finished creating world 8: odyssey world. To prove it, I added a screenshot to the game.

I'll be starting world 9: techno world, whenever I get some level ideas.

I think today is my personal best! I finished creating two more worlds to the mix.
Because most of you already seen the first five worlds for those played the test demo, I uploaded two screenshots of Orbit world and Inferno world, the ones that I recently finished

JohnsProgram - 28 / Aug / 2008 No comments
I would like to share my confirmed worlds that I'll be producing very soon.

Orbit World - Because it's not really a planet, but still has its weak gravitational force. Meaning, you get to jump higher, so it could put some new strategy into place.

Inferno World - This world is so hot, Joe Snow could melt in seconds! You need to collect whatever you can and clear the level quickly!

Odyssey World - Very mysterious... Something you may know about could deceive you.

Techno World - It's technology at it's best! With the planet's natural occurrence of electricity, it could really stun Joe Snow, literally.

JohnsProgram - 13 / Aug / 2008 No comments
My progress for creating levels has reached up to world 5. For those who played the test demo, the first five worlds will be the same as the ones you already saw...
World 1 - Snowy World
World 2 - Field World
World 3 - Jungle World
World 4 - Industrial World
World 5 - Meadow World

I have a goal for how many levels I should make, but it is most likely to change depending on the progress for developing.

JohnsProgram - 26 / Jun / 2008 No comments
Hopefully I got the data saving engine all ready to go. You can save up to three different slots to allow others to play! If you don't want to get mixed up to whose game you are playing, you could add your name on to the files to make sure you are playing your own game.

JohnsProgram - 09 / Jun / 2008 No comments
A timer has been added to the game to keep you moving.
The timer is very straight forward; you must clear the level before it expires, but here's what will happen after the expiration. When the timer reaches zero, then you still start losing points off your score. If it takes longer for you to clear the level after the timer expires, then the rate for losing points off your score will be increasing.

You don't have to worry too much if you managed to clear the level shortly after the time expires. I figured it would be more friendlier than just harshly melt Joe Snow promptly.

This is there you will find the future completed release of "Joe Snow" here.
I've made this and the test demo page separate. You can still able to try out the test demo by clicking here.

Also, check out the forums to get the latest details during development. I'll keep a journal there or some sort.
