Project leader: Chris Hanson Team members: Chris Hanson Phil Jones
Description: Your name is Cruentus, and you are a Timepire. Much like a vampire would suck blood from its victims, you suck the life time energy from your foe. This gives you mana points which you can choose to spend with various skills you learn along your journey.
The game plays alot like Castlevania, and is really well pulled off. The graphics are nice, and totally fit the game's story. Your character is equipped with various skills like: sword attack, double-jump, heal and time slow down. The time slow down really isn't used much in the game, but that is understandable due to how short it is. One of the moments you will use the time slowdown, is near the spinning chained maces. In their normal state, they spin at an impassable rate, but when you slow down time you are able to navigate through safely. A very clever feature.
Overall this game is fun, the graphics are great, and it reminds us of some very good games. It had the whole castlevania feel to it along with the NES era style gfx. The authors took time in the game to layout some nice levels and two really awesome bosses. The authors really took time to add little details with gameplay that really put this game over the top for me. My only complaint is that I would have loved more levels, but given the time constraints...this game rocks! | | danjo | A very pretty game, and the use of time being a platformer was interesting. i would
have liked to see the player remain at proper speed whist time was slowed, making it
a real advantage.
(Im guessing that the dmc2 isnt terminated upon exit, cause it crawls and crashed when
you try to finish. this doesnt have an impact on scoring tho)
| | Jimbob | | I really liked this. Just a pity the time factor couldn't be used more often as the ideas were there. The gameplay was sleek and the controls good. Well done. | | Rhodesy | This game looked nice but for me did lack in the game play. It was to much running about and smacking attack when i encountered somebody. After a while i completely stopped attacking people and seeing how quick i could make it from one side to the other.
This game has a few bugs i noticed, one being that people didn't die when i killed them and the game kept crashing when i when through some door later on in the game.
Enough with the negatives, on the positive side this game has some nice graphics and animation to accompaniment them. The use of time allowed the player to slow down the game.
Overall, with more time to iron out the bugs in this game, it could turn out very nice :) | | skn3 | | An excellent game, I really enjoyed playing all the levels. Annoyingly it crashed as I walked through the door, after I had killed the third boss and escaped the collapsing building. The short nature of the game did effect this entry slightly, because we did not get to see cruentus's time skill be used in varying ways. I hope the author decides to continue development on this game, as I would definatly be downloading and playing again if they do. | | SToPGAP | This game takes the concept of time and applies it well to a platformer - not the easiest of things to do. I liked the idea of collecting time power and using it for various skills and tricks - I can see a lot of room for more and more stuff like different ways to control time to be added if the game were to be developed further.
I liked the look and sound of the game, there was a really good retro feel to it. The pacing in the game was just right and the number and difficulty of enemies was well matched. The controls were good and let you keep up with the action in the game without a struggle.
A good game all round with an intresting use of the time theme! Good luck :)
| | TwiTerror | | This game is quite awesome, although not so original. The idea of time throughout the game is only mild, unfortunately. The rest of the game is very profecent, with an NES atmosphere. Excellent work, one of my favorite entries by far. | | | | |
